2. Red  Fort

For history lovers, Red fort is a must visit. It is a reminder of the Mughal empowers who ruled India in ancient times. It is one of the tallest and most famous monuments in the world. The tall walls (over 2 kilometers) were built to keep off invaders but the Sikh and British still mange d to capture it

A one hour Sound and Light show is held every evening to take the visitors’ imagination back in history. Bookings for the show can be done online. Red fort is located opposite Chandni Chowk in old Delhi.

Entry is 10-250 rupees and free for children under five.it is open daily except Mondays.

3. Jama Masjid

This goes down in history as the largest mosque in India with the ability to hold 25,000 worshipers.  The construction took 13 years. It is fun climbing up the southern tower. The top of the mosque offers a scenic view of the town below.

Jama Masjid is located in old Delhi town, opposite Chandni Chowk, near Red fort. One has to dress appropriately for a visit to this mosque. Attire is provided for visitors.

The mosque is open is open daily and entry is free for all.

4. Chandni Chowk

This is one of the oldest and busiest markets in the world. It has narrow, busy and chaotic streets which makes it unique. Traffic is evident caused by pedestrians, carts and visitors as they all compete to sample Indian street food.

It also has narrow lanes full of affordable electronics and jewelry to give you a wonderful shopping experience.

Chandni Chowk is situated in old Delhi near Red Fort.

5. Humayun’s  Tomb

This tomb houses the body of the second Mughal emperor (Humayun). It was built in 1570 in New Delhi. The architecture is unique and beautiful gardens which surround it provide a cool serene environment.

6. Lodi Gardens

The gardens were built by the British in 1936. It is located a few meters from Humayun’s tomb. The gardens provide a perfect environment for relaxation and meditation.

7. Qutab Minar

This is the tallest brick minaret in the world. It was built in the year 1206 and has carvings and verses of the holy Quran beautifully inscribed. It was built to signify victory and start of Islam rule in India.

Qutab Minar is situated south of New Delhi.

8. Gandhi Smriti

This is the place where “The Father of The Nation” Mahatma Gandhi stayed for 144 days before his assassination in January 30 1948. Photos, sculptures and paintings are also displayed.

The grounds he conducted daily mass is also open to visitors. Gandhi Smriti is located in central New Delhi and entry is free.

9.Bahai (Lotus) Temple

Bahai temple is a place of worships for people of all faiths and backgrounds. The Bahai faith proclaims unity of people and religions. The temple is named after the lotus flower because it has a similar shape. It is surrounded by gardens and ponds making it the best place to relax while watching the floodlights glow at night

10. Garden of Five Senses
